It’s very meet and right that, adjacent to Pentecost, we unveil St. Luke’s new Devotional Ministry webpage. Spiritually speaking, some of our parishioners understand one “native language” (Acts 2:5) and some another. The chance that at least one devotional will resonate in the spiritual language of every one of our parishioners will increase if our Advent and Lenten devotional collections comprise submissions from a wide array of parishioners. Just like what happened to the apostles at the first Christian Pentecost, we trust that in the coming months a tongue of fire will at some time rest upon you and inspire the creation of a devotional.   

To paraphrase Acts 2:17 (quoting Joel 2:28), regardless of whether you are a son or daughter prophesying, a young person seeing visions, or an old person dreaming dreams, your spiritual experience is worthy of sharing.  Even though the liturgical calendar designates the season following Pentecost as “Ordinary Time, ” and even though many Episcopalians mistakenly think “Pentecost” is Greek for “start of summer break,” we’re quite certain that you will be moved by the spirit at least once during this “ordinary” time ahead of us.
